Leadership Transition Cohorts

Transitioning on from a CEO or leadership role can be challenging, lonely, and simultaneously, a powerful transformational experience- for individuals, and for the organizations they lead. As two founders of social entrepreneurial organizations who recently transitioned from our CEO roles, we have spent significant time reflecting on our own experiences, and learning from others. In this spirit, we curate cohorts specifically focused on providing exiting Founders or Long-Term CEO’s in the social sector support, strategy, coaching, and community.

Upcoming Cohort

We are currently recruiting for our next cohort, to begin in April 2024!

The cohort will consist of 7-10 social sector leaders who are contemplative, action orientated, and committed to both vulnerability and holding confidentiality. Ideally your leadership transition will happen at the earliest six months from starting the cohort.

We will meet virtually once a month for six months beginning in late-January. Each meeting focuses on a different phase of the transition process, ensuring that you leave the cohort with a comprehensive transition plan. Meetings are 2 hours in length, including sharing promising practices in transitions, facilitated group conversations, guest presenters, and individualized time to apply your learnings to transition tools we provide, with the opportunity to receive real time feedback. You can also choose to add on monthly 1:1 coaching to support you in the planning or execution process.

The six-month engagement is focused on the following objectives:

  1. Creating a community of exit-curious/exiting Founders/Long-Term CEOs that offers camaraderie, perspective, and support, which will help each leader’s transition be an enriching experience.

  2. Providing research, frameworks, and individualized coaching to help surface and seize the opportunities within the transition to strengthen organizations, leverage the powers of teams and leaders, and maximize impact.

  3. Empower leaders to feel prepared to embrace their transition as a strategic, tactical, and intensely personal and spiritual experience.

  4. Help leaders create a tailored transition plan, including a timeline, advice on Board relations, guiding values, a communication plan, and exploring parameters of any engagement with the organization post-transition.

Testimonials from Cohort Participants:

The LTC experience is transformational. There is so much to think about when navigating an organizational transition- and the TLC covers it all. The guidance is superb; the content accessible and well-organized; and Scott/Christa are exceptional. But beyond all this, the community that you are part of is invaluable- you'll learn so much from your peers going through similar processes themselves. I can't recommend this highly enough. (LTC participant)

It's been great to participate in the cohort as I've moved through the various stages of my leadership transition. The mutual support and regular reflection that comes from being part of a cohort, and the thoughtful coaching from Christa and Scott, has helped me to move forward more calmly and more confidently than would otherwise have been the case, and to make sure I'm taking care of myself as well as the organization which I lead. (Alan Hudson, outgoing Executive Director of Global Integrity).

The LTC cohort has been more valuable than I could have imagined. Christa and Scott have both navigated these waters with self-awareness, and they also have diligently researched every element of the transition. Being with other transitioning leaders and surfacing our challenges together has made those challenges less daunting. For me, it's been too easy to immerse myself in the organization and deprioritize continued exploration of who I am and what I want my life to look like, and the LTC cohort has given me space and tools to explore both the needs of the organization and my own needs. (LTC participant)

Being part of the LTC community is more effective and spirit-raising than any other support for transition I could imagine. Not only do you get the incredible experience and kindness of Christa and Scott's attention, but also the cohort of executives who usually have no one else to turn to for the hard questions. With LTC, we have each other. (LTC participant)
